Children's Privacy
Our product is built around a child, but it is sold to and operated by adults. This explains exactly what that means for your child's information.
Last updated August 15, 2026
The short version: we never collect anything directly from a child. Everything we hold about your child was typed or uploaded by you, is used only to make the book you ordered, is never sold, is never used to advertise to anyone, and is deleted when you ask us to.
Who this service is for
KidFable Books is directed at parents, guardians and adult gift-givers — not at children. Accounts, orders and payments are all adult-facing. A child never signs in, never fills in a form, and is never asked for information by us.
You may only place an order about a child if you are that child’s parent or legal guardian, or you have their parent or guardian’s permission. We ask you to confirm this at checkout, and that confirmation is recorded with your order.
What we hold about a child
- First name, and optionally age and gender
- Interests, personality details and family relationships you choose to tell us
- Photographs you upload so the illustrations can resemble them
- A dedication or gift message, if you write one
- The finished story text, illustrations, narration audio and song we produce
We do not ask for a surname, a date of birth, a school, an address tied to the child, a phone number, or any government identifier. The shipping address and contact details we hold belong to you, the adult purchaser.
Photographs
Photographs are the most sensitive thing you give us, so they get the narrowest treatment of anything we hold.
What we do with them
- They are analyzed by an automated vision system to produce a written description of appearance (for example hair colour, approximate age, clothing) that guides the illustrator model.
- That written description — not the photograph — is what is used to generate each illustration.
- They are screened automatically before use. If that screening cannot complete, the photo is held and not used until a person reviews it.
What we never do with them
- We never use them to train any AI model, ours or a vendor’s.
- We never use facial recognition, or build any biometric identifier or faceprint.
- We never publish them, and no public page on this site can display them.
- We never sell them, and we never share them for advertising.
Retention and deletion
Uploaded photographs are kept only while they are needed to produce and revise your book. We delete them within 90 days of your order being completed or cancelled, and sooner on request.
Your finished book is kept for as long as you have an account, so you can re-download it or reorder a printed copy. Order and payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Your rights as a parent or guardian
At any time, by emailing hello@kidfablebooks.com from the address on the order, you may:
- See everything we hold about your child
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Have the photographs deleted immediately, including mid-order
- Have the child’s details and the finished book deleted entirely
- Withdraw permission for us to keep using any of it going forward
We will action deletion requests within 30 days. Refusing to let us keep photographs never costs you a book you have already paid for.
COPPA
The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act governs the online collection of personal information from children under 13 by services directed to children. This service is directed to adults and collects nothing from children — an adult provides all information on the child’s behalf, with verified consent recorded at checkout.
We nonetheless apply COPPA’s core protections as a matter of policy: collect the minimum, use it only for the purpose given, never condition the service on providing more than is needed, never disclose it to third parties for their own purposes, and give the parent full access and deletion rights.
If we ever learn that a child under 13 has created an account or sent us information directly, we delete it promptly.
Sharing
Information about your child reaches only the vendors needed to make the book: our AI text, illustration, narration and music providers; our print and shipping partner (for printed orders); our email and hosting providers. Each receives only what their step requires. None of them may use it for their own purposes, and none of them may sell it.
Sharing a song or book yourself
If you choose to create a share link for a song, that link is unlisted and marked so search engines do not index it. It works for anyone who has the link, so share it only with people you trust. You can revoke it at any time from your account, which permanently kills the old link.
This document is written to be honest and specific, not to be legal advice. Requirements vary by country and state — COPPA, GDPR-K, the UK Age Appropriate Design Code and several US state laws may all apply to you. Have a privacy lawyer review this against the markets you actually sell into before launch.
